I haven't like posted in an eternity but just saw the announcement today.. well what should I say.

I started playing Tera back in 2014, went on being more active in 2016. This game has its qualities but also major flaws like repetitive/recycled content, no significant storyline, optimization issues, some questionable game design choices, latency issues, overpriced cash shop, strong P2W aspect, toxic/elitist community, etc etc... It might just be more sensible to shut it down altogether instead of letting it die a slow and painful death (as the playerbase is continuing to diminish anyway...).

I had most fun questing to the max level and enjoying the pretty graphics. I don't know why Bluehole never tried to put more focus on questing/storyline, it could have come out great and maybe they would have been able to make the game more attractive for a broader audience, who knows.

Anyways, that's all I have to say, will be my last post here too.

The shutdown announcement from Gameforge should be happening soon enough

I don't think GF has any intentions on shutting down the game as of right now, as I believe Tera belongs to their most profitable products. Have a look at GF's portfolio and you will see loads of other games (I don't want to mention names here..), which are in an even worse condition (low playerbase, dead servers, rarely updates, etc) than Tera is right now. GF knows how to run games at the lowest cost possible and where to save money (customer service, community management, etc.), that's how they have managed to keep the supposedly unprofitable games profitable. With the acquisition of the NA and RU servers, I believe a shutdown in the near future has become even more unlikely, and I doubt Krafton is charging them high license fees...

Tera is one of Gameforge's most profitable/popular games/products if I am not mistaken. Considering the current state of Tera, which is not that good in my opinion, I wonder how other GF-games, which have fewer players, meaning less revenue for GF, are able to survive. I am generally interested in how gaming companies manage their revenue and how high their costs are, determining their profit. Obviously Gameforge won't share their figures, but it would be interesting to know how much it costs to maintain/publish a game like Tera (and how this applies to "cheaper" titles).

Now onto something more topic related... I don't think Community Managers are the one to blame for the lack of communication. After all, they're only the "mouthpiece" of GF and they can merely output what GF gives them. Tera has had many, many changes in the head of Community Management over the last couple of years and have you ever noticed any significant change or improvement? So, GF should be criticized instead because Community Managers can only forward feedback to GF, but they cannot change policies or take over management decisions. These decisions are made in other councils within GF.

    Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Yes, it is less active than it used to be, which correlates with the dwindling ingame population. Tera's golden days are long over, which shows in the closure of Tera NA. I hate to say this, but I believe Tera EU will suffer the same fate sooner or later, followed by J Tera and finally K Tera.

I came back with 64bits patch, havent play since late 2017 and i'm getting fun discovering this new things and all. I'm pretty sure ppl saying no are bored cause they play it too much but if you havent play since a while, its pretty fun so.. try, i think its worth.

Yeah, it's fun for like... two days. And I've restarted the game a week ago after three years of inactivity. There are really only minor positive changes like the awakening update and fishing but that's about it. If one has been dissatisfied with the game three years ago, then they will be even more dissatisfied with its current state.
